Tracking near-record cold temperatures overnight
This Afternoon: Highs only climb to near 60 today under partly cloudy skies. Expect a sustained northerly breeze around 5-10 mph.
Tonight: It's football weather this evening with most games in the 50s at kickoff, and potentially the 40s by the 4th quarter. Temperatures will cool efficiently as winds relax overnight and skies stay clear with high pressure settling in.
Extended: Expected clear conditions tonight have initiated a Frost Advisory, Freeze Watch, and Freeze Warning from the National Weather Service across mid-Missouri for early Saturday morning. Lows will threaten to reach below freezing - Columbia's record low for Saturday sits at 27. Temperatures still manage to climb nearly thirty degrees into the 60s again tomorrow afternoon. On Sunday, winds will adjust to a more southerly direction leading to a gradual warm-up. Expect partly cloudy skies with highs in the 70s Sunday and Monday. By Tuesday, more moisture will enter the region, as winds pull moist and warm air from the gulf. This sets up a decent chance for showers and storms Tuesday into Wednesday as a cold front approaches. Temperatures creep to the upper 70s, if not 80 before the system clears and puts us back in the 60s late week.
