Tracking a wave that keeps rain hopes alive
TODAY: Mostly sunny skies return again Thursday. With dry air and dry soils, temperatures seem to be warming quickly each day. Partner that with a slightly cooler start this morning, and temperatures will likely land near yesterday's high of 70, this afternoon. Today's breeze will from the east at about 5 mph.
TONIGHT: The east breeze continues, but weakens overnight. Clear skies remain allowing for efficient cooling by the early morning. This will lend to another very cool start Friday, likely in the low 40s again.
Extended: A gradual warmup begins on Friday. Sunshine continues in the forecast through Monday, and with that sun, comes a slight increase in warmer air from the west. This bumps us up a few degrees each day. We'll be in the mid-to-upper 70s by Friday afternoon, and approaching 80 on Monday. The remnants of Ian are expected to approach the Ohio River Valley by early next week; too far from us to bring us rain, but close enough to block traffic in the atmosphere. This will keep us dry until Ian pivots east and allows a wave to pass sometime Tuesday into Wednesday. This promotes a small rain chance to the 7-day forecast. Still, the atmosphere is extremely dry at this juncture, and any rain chance remains very low.
