Tracking a swampy Saturday before relief early next week

TODAY: Scattered showers and storms possible during the day. This doesn't stop the heat as temperatures reach the mid-upper 90s with the heat index soaring to triple digits.

TOMORROW: Another round of showers early in the day before drying up in the afternoon. Highs plummet to below-average in the low 80s.

EXTENDED: An incoming cold front will potentially bring a round of storms overnight into Sunday, with a conditional risk for stronger storms. This will depend on initial storm development and timing, with Mid-MO likely seeing the strongest storms just after midnight. The relief from the heat will last much of next week with highs not reaching the 90s again until Thursday. As heat and moisture begin to ramp up we'll see another chance for storms heading into next weekend.
