Tracking a milder weekend before intense heat

TODAY: Mostly sunny with highs near seasonal averages in the upper 80s.

FATHER'S DAY: A tad warmer in the low 90s with continued sunshine.

EXTENDED: Central Missouri sees great conditions to head outdoors this weekend with less moisture keeping the heat index near the air temperature. This break won't last long though as a stable ridge pattern overhead will quickly usher in dangerous heat early next week. Monday sees highs back to the upper 90s but moisture will lag behind so the heat index remains in check there. By Tuesday, however, humidity increases, and this will easily send heat indices to 105+ degrees. Once the pattern flattens out midweek we'll finally see some rain trying to move in but the heat doesn't break as highs still manage to reach the 90s late week.
