Tracking a fantastic end to the week before a soggy weekend

THIS AFTERNOON: Mostly sunny and warm with highs close to 80.

TOMORROW: Dry and clear for the morning with rain chances picking up late afternoon. Highs in the upper 70s.

EXTENDED: Saturday starts off sunny and dry with a slow moving front to our north. As that front stalls out on Saturday, a train of disturbances will begin sliding through the region. That could trigger a few showers and storms by early Saturday evening, becoming more numerous Saturday night into Sunday. Severe weather chances look low for both days. Scattered storms are possible through the day Sunday, but temperatures remain in the upper 70s. We can expect active weather into next week with daily storm chances thanks to the jet stream being positioned to the northwest, sending more waves of energy our way. Temperatures will cool below average for most of the week, and total rain amounts will range between 2-3". River levels are expected to drop below flood stage this weekend, but we'll have to keep a close eye on them next week.
