Tracking a return to some mild temperatures

SHAKING OFF COOL START
KMIZ

FRIDAY

Winds have swung out of the south this morning, which will lead to a bit of a chilly start. We’ll make up for it this afternoon, though, with highs pushing back into the low 70’s under a mix of sun and clouds. Gusts will reach 25 mph at times.

TONIGHT

Those clouds and that continued breeze will lead to a warm night around Mid-Missouri. Temperatures won’t drop much below the middle 50’s. A stray sprinkle or two can’t be ruled out but it’s looking like more of us should stay dry.

EXTENDED

A warm start Saturday means a warm end by the afternoon. Highs will once again push into the low to mid 70’s under mostly cloudy skies. Winds will gust to 30 mph at times throughout the day. Storms will return later in the evening, between about 8 PM and midnight. Anything that does develop could bring some straight-line winds along with some lightning and heavy downpours north of I-70. Those will scoot out by Sunday morning, leaving most of the day dry but cooler. Highs will only reach the middle 50’s before more rain chances return Sunday evening. This round looks to be more widespread, lasting into the overnight hours. As cooler air moves in towards Monday morning, that rain could turn into some snow. Right now, we’re not expecting any problems to come of a few wet snowflakes falling at times on Monday, with afternoon temperatures only in the mid to upper 30’s. We’re warming up and drying out on Tuesday. Highs will push into the upper 40’s before reaching the mid to upper 50’s Wednesday and Thursday.
