Tracking a mild day before winter charges in

SNOW TONIGHT
KMIZ

TUESDAY

Temperatures are mild to start out this morning. We’ll top out near 50 early on this afternoon with rain off and on throughout the day. Winds will start to pick up as a front moves through, knocking temperatures back into the 30’s by this evening.

TONIGHT

As that colder air moves in, the rain will transition over to a mix of sleet and freezing rain. That will eventually become all snow overnight, with accumulations likely. Lows will fall close to 20 overnight.

EXTENDED

The snow will continue for most of us, with a wintry mix close to I-44 tomorrow. While the intensity will back off during the afternoon, don’t get complacent. Another wave of snow will move through Wednesday night into Thursday, leading to additional accumulations. Some areas will be looking at close to a foot of snow by the time this system wraps up Thursday, around midday. Temperatures will hold in the 20’s on Wednesday, before falling into the teens on Thursday. We’re down to the single digits Thursday night before recovering with some sunshine Friday, back into the upper 20’s. We’ll step into the 30’s this weekend.
