Tracking another push of cold air tomorrow

TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy and breezy with lows in the low teens. Wind chills in the single digits.

TOMORROW: Partly to mostly sunny with highs in the mid-20s. A Weather Alert Day goes into effect late tomorrow night for dangerous temperatures dipping into the low single digits.

EXTENDED: It's a warm start to the week with temperatures near 50 late this afternoon, but winds are beginning to shift to the north and have picked up to about 10-15 mph. Temperatures tonight in the wake of arctic high pressure building in will drop into the low teens, but with the winds we could see a wind chill in the single digits in some spots. Tomorrow is about 20 degrees colder with highs in the mid-20s. For reference, our average high for this time in January is 40 degrees. The Weather Alert Day will be in effect tomorrow night as temps drop into the low single digits with wind chills a few degrees below zero by Wednesday morning. Wednesday afternoon should be a touch warmer with highs in the upper 20s to around 30. We continue a warm up into Thursday with southwest winds that send us back to about 40, but another fast moving front moves in from the north on Thursday, perhaps bringing a few flurries by the evening and cooler temperatures on Friday. After topping out near 30 to end the week, we start a warming trend over the weekend with highs in the 40s. Next week is looking warmer and more active with upper winds shifting more southwesterly along the jet stream. This spells out better chances for precipitation, mainly in the form of rain for the first half of the week.
