Tracking a brutally cold start

THURSDAY

We’re waking up in the deep freeze this morning. Sunshine will try to help out, but will only manage to get highs into the teens this afternoon. That persistent wind out of the north will keep wind chill values hovering around zero throughout the day.

TONIGHT

Under mostly clear skies we’re in for another dangerously cold night. Lows will bottom out in the single digits. That wind will start to let up overnight, so the wind chill won’t be quite as extreme.

EXTENDED

More sunshine will help temperatures reach the 20’s on Friday. We’ll keep that warming trend going on Saturday despite clouds returning with highs in the upper 30’s. Temperatures will push into the low 40’s Sunday with the cloud cover being tough to completely shake off. The uphill climb continues into Monday with highs reaching the upper 40’s before crashing behind another cold front Tuesday into the 20’s. That cooler air looks to stick around into the middle of next week.
