Tracking a much-needed warmup this afternoon

MILD WEATHER RETURNS
KMIZ

TUESDAY

Winds have turned southerly overnight, helping keep things mild as you step outside this morning. Some more sunshine will help temperatures top out in the low 50’s this afternoon. That breeze will pick up a bit, but won’t be overwhelming this afternoon.

TONIGHT

Those winds will turn back out of the north tonight as a powerful cold front rolls in. Temperatures will be knocked back into the middle 20’s overnight with a few stray flurries possible along and south of I-44.

EXTENDED

The cold air will keep filtering in throughout the day tomorrow, holding temperatures in the 20’s throughout the day. Once the sun sets, we’ll fall into the single digits with the wind chill dropping below zero. We struggle to warm up at all on Thursday with highs only topping out in the teens. We’ll fall back into the single digits by Friday morning, but can climb a little further into the upper 20’s Friday afternoon. We’ll keep the slow warmup going into this weekend, with highs reaching the 30’s.
