Tracking cold air returning for the rest of the week

frigid today

WEDNESDAY: Colder air is returning this morning. Highs this afternoon will be stuck in the 20’s for many of us with a westerly breeze to contend with. Gusts could reach 30 mph this morning.

TONIGHT: Snow will move in this evening and favor areas along and south of I-70. Lows tonight will fall even further, into the low teens. The wind chill will fall to around or slightly below zero. For more details on the snow and bitter cold, head over to the Insider Blog.

EXTENDED: Snow will continue through the first part of Thursday, so the morning commute could be slippery. Highs will only top out in the teens tomorrow, so slick spots will be possible even into the afternoon and evening hours. Lows will fall into the single digits by Friday morning but manage to recover into the 20’s by the afternoon. We jump back into the 40’s Saturday with our next storm system moving in by the evening. This one looks to be warm enough to only be concerned with rain right now and should be out by the coldest part of the night. We’re cooler on Sunday and Monday with highs in the 30’s before starting to warm up a touch for the rest of next week.
