Tracking another cold rain for some

WEDNESDAY

Many of us are still working on drying out but we’re tracking another round of showers on the way. Timing will be towards the mid to late morning through the afternoon hours, but should generally stay south of I-70. Temperatures will be stuck in the 30’s for much of the day, topping out near 40. Where it is a bit cooler, north of HWY 24, we could see a wintry mix falling at times this afternoon. As light as it is expected, and as warm as ground temperatures are, impacts will be hard to come by.

TONIGHT

The precipitation will exit early this evening, leaving us dry overnight. A few clouds will stick around, however, keeping lows in the upper 20’s.

EXTENDED

We’ll scoot the clouds out of the way on Thursday and get to enjoy some sunshine. Temperatures will warm into the upper 40’s and low 50’s tomorrow. We make it to the upper 50’s to low 60’s on Friday as clouds increase throughout the day. Our next disturbance moves in late Friday night into Saturday, bringing our first real taste of winter.

Temperatures will fall throughout the day on Saturday, eventually making it to the freezing mark. Rain that will have moved in overnight will then change to snow likely sometime shortly after sunrise. From then, the question will be how long can we hang on to the moisture. If we can keep it around, we’ll need to talk about accumulating snow. That part’s a bit uncertain. What we do know is there’s a lot of cold air surging in with this system. Lows will fall into the low teens Saturday night, with a wind chill likely down to zero. Highs on Sunday look to be stuck in the upper 20’s and low 30’s, but we’ll rebound quickly next week. We’ll get back to normal on Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures warming into the upper 40’s and low 50’s.
