Tracking another round of showers and storms Wednesday

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with storms arriving from the west by sunrise. Lows in the lower 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and storms possible through the day. A few may be strong across northeast Missouri by late afternoon. Highs in the upper 70s.

EXTENDED: Showers and a few thunderstorms are possible tomorrow morning, especially west of Highway 63. Showers lift north and dissipate some by late morning, allowing temperatures to warm up into the upper 70s by late afternoon. Another round of scattered storms could develop by mid-late afternoon, and a few of those could be on the stronger side with gusty winds, especially for northeast Missouri. A cold front moves into the area on Wednesday night, bringing renewed widespread rain for areas mainly south and east of Highway 54 into Thursday morning. That corridor will likely be the axis of steady rainfall through the day on Thursday, but as a more robust push of moisture rides up along the front into Friday, we could end up with more widespread rain and a few storms on Friday. Rain exits to the east early Friday evening as the cold front moves out of the area. Rain amounts will range between 1-2", with the 2" amounts closer to I-44 through Friday night. Much cooler air starts to filter in by Friday afternoon and evening, with highs struggling to get past the lower 60s and lows falling into the low 40s by Friday night. Saturday will be beautiful but much cooler for this weekend's Mizzou game vs. last weekend. Highs reach the low 60s with sunshine, and Sunday is a bit warmer as winds start to shift a little in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Still, it's a nice end to the weekend with highs in the upper 60s to around 70. Next week starts off dry and mild with temperatures reaching the low to mid-70s.
