Tracking some toasty tailgates

HOMECOMING: We’ll start off comfortable this morning but pretty quickly start to warm up. Temperatures will be in the 70’s during the parade, warming into the middle 80’s by midday. Those temperatures this afternoon will threaten the record high of 91 in Columbia. A slight southerly breeze will keep things stirred up a bit more along with some high clouds streaming through.

TONIGHT: Those partly cloudy skies will stick around tonight with a pretty mild night in store. Temperatures will fall back into the 70’s by 9-10 PM before settling down in the upper 60’s overnight.

EXTENDED: We do this all over again tomorrow, with some more direct sunlight. Our breeze will stick around alongside highs in the upper 80’s. A big change is heading our way Sunday night into Monday with showers and storms moving back in. The rain will hold off until after midnight but could be a little noisy as it moves in early Monday morning. With a few ingredients in play, some of these could produce some gusty winds or small hail. These should push out of here Monday afternoon, with highs stuck in the 70’s. We’re staying there the rest of the week, but we have a few more rounds of some beneficial rain moving in. Tuesday night into Wednesday morning we might end up repeating expectations on timing and intensity with another round Wednesday evening. The chance of rain will spill over into Thursday and Friday of next week before we start drying out.
