Tracking scattered showers today, fog overnight
TONIGHT: Showers start to thin out, but fog develops after midnight, bringing visibility down below a quarter-mile by sunrise. Lows in the upper 50s to around 60.
TOMORROW: Partly to mostly cloudy with a spot shower possible east of Highway 63. Highs in the low to mid-70s.
EXTENDED: Rain begins to diminish overnight as this system begins to move back northeast. Dense fog develops overnight and lasts into Thursday morning, bringing visibility down below 1/4 mile. Clouds become more patchy on Thursday with a spot shower or two east of Highway 63. We clear out Thursday night into Friday, but southwest winds increase enough to bring temperatures into the 80s on Friday afternoon. We're mild with mainly clear skies on Friday night for high school football, and we can expect a hot and breezy homecoming weekend. Highs reach the upper 80s to around 90 degrees on Saturday, getting to near a record daily high at Columbia Regional Airport. The record high is 91, so we will be getting close by late afternoon. Sunday is about 10-12 degrees above average as highs reach the low to mid-80s before a cold front arrives on Sunday evening. Rain moves in around sunset, leaving us with about an inch or so of rain through early Monday. We'll cool down into the 70s on the other side of the front to start off next week, with an active pattern setting up toward the end of the week.
