Tracking high heat indices and humidity

Today: Columbia will top out at 99 degrees today with the heat index climbing near 103 putting people at elevated risk for heat exhaustion. Winds continue fueling these warmer temperatures from the southwest at 5-10 moh.

Tonight: The overnight low sits nearly 10 degrees above the average high in Columbia at 75 degrees with mostly clear sky conditions.

Extended: Temperatures continue to ride out this warmer trend through Friday with the heat index still near the 100-degree mark. Central Missouri can expect to see chances of scattered storms and showers on Thursday afternoon, but most of the viewing will be left dry. Approaching Sunday and Monday, chances of showers and storms increase with a low-pressure system sliding toward the midwest. This will help start us out on a cooler note heading into next week.
