Tracking more sunshine and heat

TODAY: Mostly sunny and dry. Highs in the low 90s.

TOMORROW: Sunshine continues and temperatures reach the 90s again in the afternoon.

EXTENDED: The story of the week will be the increasing temperatures as some places could reach the upper 90s by Thursday and Friday. Upper high pressure peaks over us late in the week, bringing temperatures 10-12 degrees above normal. Dew points on those days will climb into the upper 60s as winds begin to turn more southerly, meaning heat indices will reach the upper 90s to around 100 by Friday. A cold front will bring some relief in the way of rain and storms on Friday and potentially into Saturday as it sits across Mid-MO. We could end up with more rain on Sunday if the front doesn't budge; there's a possibility it could also lift back north by the end of the weekend, keeping temperatures in the upper 80s. We are about 1.75" below normal on rainfall for the month, so anything we get at the end of the month is much needed. Looking ahead to next week, the pattern appears to be more active with chances for rain/storms and a cooler than average trend for temperatures.
