Tracking a scorching afternoon, with storms possible

relief

FRIDAY: Hot and humid again today. Highs will reach the low 90’s, but will feel close to 100 with the humidity. We’re tracking a complex of storms rolling out of Nebraska and Iowa this afternoon. That looks to drop south and could bring some showers and storms to areas west of HWY 63. The severe threat is expected to stay west of the viewing area, with some gusty winds possible near Kansas City. Timing looks to be between 4-10 PM.

TONIGHT: Those will clear out of here tonight, leaving things partly cloudy. Lows will fall back into the lower 70’s.

EXTENDED: A frontal boundary will still be making progress through the region tomorrow. That could generate a few showers and storms, but a lot of us look like we’ll stay dry. Temperatures will top out near 90 again. That’s about where we get Sunday, but the humidity will be relaxing. Those more comfortable conditions look like they’ll stick around next week. Highs will top out in the low 90’s Monday before backing off into the mid to upper 80’s for the rest of the week. Rain chances look pretty minimal.
