Tracking a cool but pleasant Memorial Day weekend

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and chilly with lows in the mid-40s.

TOMORROW: Decreasing clouds with more sunshine later in the day. Highs in the mid-60s.

EXTENDED: We gradually warm on Sunday into the lower 70s under the influence of more sunshine as high pressure moves overhead. Winds shift southeast Sunday into Monday, giving us slightly more mild temperatures Sunday evening. Memorial Day starts off dry with showers moving in by afternoon. With little instability to work with, I don't think we'll see too many thunderstorms on Monday. The rest of the week stays active, however, we can expect daily chances of rain and a few storms through Thursday as we'll see an amplified upper-level wind pattern. There will be plenty of dry time in between rounds of storms. Highs next week start off in the low 70s and gradually warm into the upper 70s by late week. Rain is expected to clear out potentially by Friday into next weekend. Rainfall amounts are just under 2" above average for the month as Columbia is sitting at 6.15" for May. Typically we see 4.77" total for the month, and we could add to our final total if we pick up some measurable rain on Monday.
