Tracking plenty of sunshine to close the week
TODAY: Mostly sunny and beautiful with highs in the low to mid-70s.
TONIGHT: Pleasant and warm with lows in the low 50s.
EXTENDED: Saturday looks like the better day to get outside for the weekend as high pressure warms us into the upper 70s to around 80 with sunshine. It will be breezy with gusts up to 25 mph from the south. We start off near 60 on Sunday morning, but I'll be tracking a slow moving cold front out to our northwest that progresses into the area slowly between Sunday and Tuesday, bringing chances for scattered showers and storms. Temperatures will still make it to the 70s on Sunday, but expect a better shot at a few storms after lunch time. Severe weather isn't expected at this time. Ingredients look a little more promising for a few strong storms Monday with the front stalled out over Mid-Missouri, with a big cool down coming by Tuesday afternoon as the front slides to our south. We could still have some lingering showers on Wednesday, and temperatures fall into the low 60s for highs. We could end the week cooler if model guidance is onto something; the major forecast models are in agreement on about 10 degrees below average or so at this point. We could get another inch of rain between Sunday and Wednesday, adding to the 1-3" we got over the last 24 hours.
