Mid-Missouri crews preparing for winter weather
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
With winter weather expected on Tuesday, an eight-person crew with City of Columbia public works is planning to be out at 6 a.m.
A news release said pavement temperatures could fall to around freezing by the early morning, causing possible spotty slick conditions on the roadways. Officials are asking for people to use caution on the roads.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F tweeted about the expected weather conditions, asking mid-Missourians to prepare for travel to avoid getting stuck.
MoDot also tweeted Tuesday morning to use extra caution in your morning commute, and remember to buckle up and drive slowly if roads are seeing impacts.
Engineering Operations Manager Richard Stone said in the city's news release that Columbia crews do not expect significant long-term impacts for pavements.
Crews will be monitoring conditions throughout Tuesday.
As of 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Missouri Department of Transportation's Traveler Information Map began to show some northwest roads as partly or completely covered. You can check the map for the latest road conditions.
