Tracking warmer weekend after a bitterly cold morning

TODAY: Very cold this morning, followed by diminishing winds and sunshine this afternoon. Highs near 30 with afternoon wind chills in the upper teens to low 20s.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cold with lows in the low 20s.

EXTENDED: We get a break from the cold air as our arctic air mass moves east, leaving us with southwest winds and mild temperatures for the weekend. Temperatures reach the upper 40s to around 50 both Saturday and Sunday. A weak disturbance will bring a few clouds to the area on Sunday, followed by a cool down for early next week into the 30s on Monday and Tuesday. Another storm system moving in from the west on Tuesday into Wednesday will bring the threat of precipitation. We'll likely see a mix transitioning to rain Tuesday into Wednesday, with a few snow flurries into early New Year's Eve. Stay with ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather as the situation continues to develop.
