The leaves are changing, when it will arrive to Mid-Missouri

Fall foliage has already begun to pop across the upper Midwest and Rockies, likely aided by the big-time cooldown experienced in that part of the nation this past week. Our foliage tracker has mid-Missouri hitting peak color by late October and early November.

For those with a keen eye, there have already been some leaves that have begun changing here in our backyards. This is most likely due to the drier than normal conditions we've been experiencing for the latter-half of the summer... but not quite enough to ruin the expected peak in the next 6 weeks.

It's important to remember that the expected peak date is when color will be MOST widespread. In many cases, we will see colors begin to pop in isolated locations (typically in more rural areas) sooner, within the next couple of weeks and watch a general spread and progression of color change over the month of October.

The typical weather conditions we look for for a very vibrant autumn color season are listed below.

If we're able to avoid high winds or severe storms, we're likely in for a decent season due to the drier end to the growing season.
