Heat and rainfall give cause for Weather Alert Day

For more Weather Alert Day information, check out our blog. https://abc17news.com/news/2020/06/29/weather-alert-day-flooding-rainfall-summer-heat-to-affect-mid-missouri-this-week/

TODAY: Temperatures will be rising into the 90s for the afternoon with humidity pushing us into a heat index value in the mid 90s. There also are some chances for portions of the viewing area to see storms as we push into the afternoon and evening. These storms appear to fall into the middle part and eastern parts of mid-Missouri.

TONIGHT: The first round of storms will clear out of the area, leaving way for another round of potentially heavy rainfall to move in as a low-pressure system spins to our northeast. Overnight, we could see varying amounts of rainfall impacting mid-Missouri.

EXTENDED: As we approach Tuesday morning, portions of the viewing area will have to keep a close eye out for flash flooding as many will accumulate 1-3" of rain with isolated areas receiving upwards of 5" of rain. A Flash Flood Watch for many of our counties extends through Wednesday morning at 7 AM. Wednesday will continue our trend of hot and humid days.
