Issues
Abortion: Hawley is staunchly anti-abortion and opposes Amendment 3 on the November ballot, which would enshrine a right to abortion into the Missouri Constitution. Hawley has claimed the amendment would knock down legal barriers to gender-affirming care -- an assertion Amendment 3 supporters and several experts say is wrong.
Economy: Hawley has styled himself as a populist conservative. His rhetoric attacks billionaires and elites and he has filed legislation to end stock trading by members of Congress.
But opponents say Hawley still takes money from big corporate donors and embraces anti-union policies.
Immigration: Hawley takes a hard line on immigration, supporting a crackdown on people coming across the border and deportation of those already here illegally. He has criticized Biden administration plans to address the issue.
