Tracking some sun today, increasing rain chances tonight

THIS AFTERNOON: Partly sunny and warm, with highs in the mid to upper 80s.

TONIGHT: Increasing rain chances, with scattered storms moving in after midnight. Lows fall to the lower 70s.

EXTENDED: Rain chances increase into Friday morning, with scattered showers and weak thunderstorms from sunrise through midmorning. We'll see a break in the rain around lunchtime, but a second round of storms will develop in the afternoon and evening, producing scattered downpours and possible high winds and small hail. Storm chances drop Friday night, and we'll pick up a quarter to over an inch of rainfall tomorrow. Saturday could be dreary with lingering clouds and showers during the day, and northerly winds will be blustery at 10 to 20 mph. Highs remain in the 70s on Saturday, but conditions dry out by early Sunday, warming us back to the 80s with lots of sunshine to end the weekend. Drier weather next week will lead to a steady warmup into early August, with highs approaching 90 later next week.
