Tracking sunny, warm weather for Memorial Day before showers and storms

TODAY: I'm tracking another mild, sunny start to the day for Memorial Day as temperatures begin in the upper 50s. By the afternoon hours, mostly sunshine can be expected as winds blow out of the southeast at 5-10 mph. This will help temperatures get into the low 80s across the area.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking an increase in cloud cover during the evening and overnight hours, but dry conditions will persist for this period of time. Winds will continue to blow out of the southeast at 5-10 mph, and by the end of the night, temperatures can be expected to cool into the upper 50s.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking a cloudy day ahead on Tuesday, but the majority of the morning and afternoon hours are trending on the drier side. A system of showers is expected to move into Central Missouri from the south during Tuesday afternoon, most likely bringing rain to the I-44 corridor, but as it approaches I-70, the system becomes less organized. The most likely chance to see precipitation closer to Columbia will be during the late afternoon and evening hours. Daily scattered showers and storm chances will continue throughout the rest of the week, with the best chances of observing daily precipitation staying south of I-70. Temperatures throughout this period of time will stay in the upper 70s and low 80s. This weekend, drier weather can be expected to return as daily high temperatures continue to warm into the upper 70s and low 80s.
