Tracking dry time before a stormy stretch Sunday night through Monday afternoon

TODAY: I'm tracking a mostly clear start to the day as temperatures start in the mid-50s before clouds begin to enter the area during the later morning hours. By the afternoon, temperatures will top out in the upper 70s as winds blow out of the southeast at 8-12 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. Dry weather will be gradually coming to an end as storms approach during the evening hours.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking potentially strong to severe storms entering from the west during the evening hours, mostly after sunset, weakening as they move through Central Missouri. This is why an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day has been issued. Showers and sub-severe storms could linger overnight into early Monday morning as temperatures cool into the low 60s and winds blow out of the southeast at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking ongoing showers and storms for some throughout Monday morning, exiting throughout the early afternoon hours as temperatures warm into the low 80s. Another chance for strong to severe storms will begin during the afternoon hours, exiting on Monday evening. The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day will come to an end after these storms, and a slightly cooler forecast is in store for the rest of the week. Temperatures will only top out in the mid to upper 60s each afternoon on Tuesday through the start of the weekend. There's a chance of lingering showers on Tuesday, but slightly drier and sunnier weather can be expected for Wednesday and Thursday before more rain chances arrive on Friday.
