Tracking rain to close the week

THIS AFTERNOON: Overcast and cool with temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s. Scattered showers and storms remain south of the area during the day, returning to the Lake area and I-44 after dinnertime.

TONIGHT: Rain chances increase overnight, reaching Jefferson City and Columbia before midnight, and northern Missouri late tonight. Temperatures remain in the 50s.

EXTENDED: Friday will be wet all day as widespread showers track across the region. This keeps temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s again. Rain winds down late Friday night, and rain totals will range between an inch to two inches areawide. The weekend looks sunny and cool, with highs in the 50s on Saturday and low 60s on Sunday. Another round of rain is expected from Sunday night through early Tuesday, with around a half-inch to an inch of rain possible. The forecast remains active through Thanksgiving, but lower precipitation chances are favored overall, and chilly fall temperatures are likely through the holiday.
