Tracking a dreary start to the weekend, colder tomorrow

TODAY: Scattered showers in the early morning and cloudy all day with highs in the 40s. Winds will be gusty from the northwest between 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy and colder with morning lows below freezing and afternoon temperatures in the mid-30s. Lighter north winds between 5 to 10 mph.

EXTENDED: Colder temperatures next week will set the stage for several rounds of winter precipitation, first on Monday night and again on Wednesday. The first round is expected to be lighter but much of southern Missouri could already receive an inch of snow; the next chance on Wednesday is looking heavier with a more supportive setup for snowfall which could bring 1 to 3 inches of snow, this time focused to the north and west. Many changes are likely to come but travel impacts will be possible for parts of next week, and the weather pattern remains active through next weekend.
