Tracking pleasant conditions into the weekend

THIS AFTERNOON: Friday is still cooler with a high near 70 and a light northwest breeze shifting westerly in the evening.

TONIGHT: Skies remain mostly clear overnight. The northern lights may be visible in northern Mid-MO due to a series of CMEs disrupting the atmosphere. Look to the northern horizon between 1 and 4 a.m. for the best possible view.

EXTENDED: Saturday starts crisp in the low 50s before we climb into the 70s under mostly sunny skies. Mother's Day brings more clouds late in the day with highs in the 80s. Rain chances return in the west during the afternoon and evening, but most are looking dry for the holiday. On Monday, rain returns for all, with a few rumbles of thunder possible. We'll keep daily rain chances and temperatures in the 70s through the first half of next week.
