Tracking overnight rain and snow with minor impacts
TONIGHT: I'm tracking a widespread system entering the most north and west portions of Missouri, then entering central Missouri through the rest of the afternoon/evening. It will last through the morning hours tomorrow. This system is bringing the potential for snow to be observed, but any chances for accumulation are held off to our northern most counties. Saline, Chariton, Howard, Randolph and Macon county are all under a Winter Weather Advisory until 6:00 AM tomorrow. Monroe county is under this Winter Weather Advisory until 9:00 AM tomorrow. For these counties, 1-2" of total snow can be expected by the end of tomorrow morning with minor travel impacts expected. Along the I-70 corridor, traces of snow at most are expected and travel impacts will be limited. Most flakes of snow that are observed in the sky will melt by the time they hit the surface due to the temperatures throughout this event. Further south, mostly rain and little to no impacts are anticipated.
TOMORROW: I'm tracking lingering snow and mixed precipitation exiting quickly through the morning hours. Sun is expected to break through, and temperatures are trending back above freezing. These two factors will help clear any roads that do experience impacts from this event. Winds will increase through the afternoon as a dry cold front is passing through Missouri. Afternoon temperatures will only reach into the high 30s before sundown.
EXTENDED: I'm tracking a chilly start to the week with mornings in the low 20s. Along with this, northerly winds will create wind chills in the teens. A warming trend is expected through the week though as I'm expecting plenty of sunshine before another chance at rain Thursday into the weekend.
