Tracking wintry mix, possible road issues into tonight

THIS EVENING/OVERNIGHT: Mostly cloudy with patchy snow north of I-70 with light freezing drizzle moving in south. A dusting to a half-inch of snow is expected along with a glaze of ice for our southern counties. Precipitation ends by midnight, mostly cloudy into Tuesday. Lows in the low teens.

EXTENDED: This unusually cold stretch continues this week through the weekend with zonal flow aloft, bringing disturbances just about every other day. We get a break from precipitation on Tuesday, but could end up with another round of light snow for the northern half of the area Wednesday, with a wintry mix farther south, causing travel problems into early Thursday morning. We get even colder by the end of the week with high temperatures in the low teens by Friday, with lows falling below zero by this weekend. Saturday will bring another shot at light snow and continued cold into early next week.
