WATCH: Columbia superintendent talks about decision to go virtual

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The superintendent for Columbia Public Schools joined ABC 17 News This Morning to talk about the return to learn.

The CPS Board of Education voted Monday night to start the school year all online as COVID-19 cases continue to spike.

One metric CPS uses to determine what method of learning the district will use is the rate of new COVID-19 cases over 14 days per 10,000 people who live in the district.

If that number is at 50 or greater, all-virtual learning is recommended. That number was at 71.5 on Monday.
