Tracking another very cold night followed by snow tomorrow night

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cold with lows in the single digits.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny to start with increasing clouds by late afternoon. Warmer with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s.

EXTENDED: The Weather Alert Day has been extended through 10:00 a.m. Friday for the potential of snow that could slow down the morning commute and cause some closures and/or delays. The bitter cold continues for one more night as lows fall off into the single digits yet again tonight with mainly clear skies. Tomorrow starts off sunny, and as high pressure slides to our south we'll see a welcome wind shift to the southwest, pushing temperatures into the lower 30s. Clouds increase as low pressure across the Deep South sends precipitation our way, falling as snow after dark on Thursday night. Snow showers are expected to move mainly southwest to northeast, tapering off after daybreak. We'll likely see around 1-2" for Columbia and Jefferson City, while points south could see upwards of 3-4" through Friday morning. We'll see temperatures get close to 30 by Friday afternoon, but get cold once again with morning lows on Saturday falling to around 15 degrees. The weekend stays chilly, with a chance of a few snow showers on Sunday. We'll start next week below average yet again, but precipitation chances look low at least until the end of the week.
