Tracking a dry and sunny midweek ahead of tropical moisture
TODAY: Wednesday is bright, with only a few clouds from morning, through the afternoon. Expect highs in the mid 70s, with less humidity.
TONIGHT: Skies are mostly clear again overnight, with temperatures falling into the 50s through early Thursday.
EXTENDED: It's beginning to look like we will keep low surface humidity through Friday, as we tracking more clouds moving into the region aloft. These clouds will be from Helene's remnants as they move onto the gulf shore. These clouds are high and thin on Thursday, leaving us bright early in the day. Rain likely won't return until after midnight Thursday, into Friday morning for most. Our best chance for rain will be Friday and Saturday, but it's still unclear just how far west, these showers will travel, as this system has to double back before getting pushed back east, so I'm skeptical of guidance that suggests we'll see a washout. Rain is in the forecast, Friday and Saturday, but the totals will be highest in the southeast near I-44, and there will likely be a quick taper in totals to the northwest. Temperatures will be stunted either way with clouds and what rain we do see. Expect highs in the low 70s Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Rain chances taper off through the end of the weekend. Rain totals are variable depending on path of Helene's remnants.
