Tracking possible severe storms and dangerous heat
TODAY: Tuesday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day as heat index values climb again into the triple digits, this time up to 110-115. We will be mostly dry, but depending on how storms develop to our north, we may see a chance for a passing storm this morning and again this evening. Severe storms will be possible with anything that develops.
TONIGHT: We'll be continuing to monitor for a low chance for storms, but otherwise, we expect mostly clear conditions and warm temperatures, in the 70s over night.
EXTENDED: The heat continues Wednesday and Thursday, with feels like temperatures greater than 105-110 possible. We'll have another round of storms possible on Wednesday afternoon, but we expect most of us to stay dry. Another high uncertainty day in the forecast depending on when and where storms develop over the northern plains. The right time and spot could send a complex of storms into mid-Missouri a few hours later. A surface cold front will move in Thursday. This brings rain chance Thursday and disrupts the pattern to bring mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 90s, with a drop in humidity Friday through the weekend.
