Tracking some weather to be Thankful for this Thanksgiving
TODAY: Wednesday brings the sunshine back to the region, in fact clouds are already clearing before sunrise, and allowing temperatures to fall efficiently. These conditions will lead to widespread temps in the 20s before we start to warm again. Under mostly sunny skies, and with increasingly southerly winds, we should warm back into the mid-40s.
TONIGHT: Winds stay southerly, but skies are clear overnight. Temperatures are expected to be similar, in the upper 20s, to start Thursday.
EXTENDED: Thanksgiving will start chilly, but we will warm quickly through the morning. A weak cold front will arrive, bringing north winds by midday, but this doesn't appear to set temperatures back much near Columbia and southward. Near Moberly and Macon, temperatures will stick in the 40s, but 50s are expected along and south of I-70. Some high clouds will be present in the northern sky, with more sunshine to the south. Thanksgiving night and Black Friday morning will be chilly if you're getting out early to watch any Christmas lightings or doing any shopping. Expect lows early Friday to again sit in the upper 20s. Saturday, high clouds will work in to the region, ahead of a system that may bring showers as soon as Saturday night. Temperatures will be very important to decide precipitation type Saturday night into Sunday morning. Currently it looks like we could see mostly rain, with overnight temperatures allowing some snow to mix in before returning to light rain early Sunday. Currently this precipitation looks light, and should remain unimpactful with air and ground temperatures acting as limiting factors to any wintry mix that tries to mix in. Of course, stay tuned to the forecast if you have travel plans, but currently no significant travel impacts are expected. We'll dry up next week, with highs in the 40s to start the week.
