Tracking potential for strong storms Wednesday, with more rain chances ahead

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy skies may result in a spot shower this evening, but on a very isolated basis. Anyone particular person seeing rain is very unlikely. Skies will clear after sunset, and temperatures will fall into the low 70s.

TOMORROW: Wednesday is an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert day. It's likely that we'll be tracking a complex of thunderstorms north of mid-Missouri around sunrise on Wednesday. There is uncertainty on where it tracks, or how well it holds strength. This brings rain chances to areas north of I-70 especially, through the morning. There is potential for this to continue south though, and so you should pay close attention to the forecast if you have out door plans. There is some risk for severe storms with this round, but it's low. A better chance for severe weather will come with what action we see (if any) during the afternoon. This will largely depend on what rolls through during the morning. This is to say that the chance for severe weather is moderate, as confidence is low in timing and placement of activity. We may get through this event with little-to-no severe weather, but the risk is there nonetheless, and so we have made Wednesday an ABC 17 StormTrack Weather Alert Day. For more details, click here.

EXTENDED: The jet stream remains overhead through the rest of the week, keeping disturbances in play just about every day. This keeps daily rain chances in the forecast through the weekend. Details surrounding these chances are highly uncertain, and expected to shift significantly in the days leading up to each event. Temperatures will cling close to 90 through early next week.
