Tracking scattered showers before a major cooldown ahead

Today: Highs looking to top out into the upper 80's this afternoon with skies slowly becoming partly cloudy by late afternoon. A few scattered light showers are possible this evening into tonight as storms off to the west towards Kansas will lose moisture and energy leading to rainfall near a tenth of an inch in some areas.

Tonight: Temperatures will fall to the mid-70's overnight aided by partly cloudy skies and a possible lingering light shower.

Extended: Chances for early morning showers and scattered storms increase ahead of a passing low pressure system tomorrow morning. Temperatures increase to the upper 80's once again for the afternoon high's with chances for a few scattered storms. Saturday looks to be hotter once again as highs creep into the upper 90's. The heat index looks to surpass 100 degrees making for dangerous heat. A passing cold front Sunday morning leads to increased chances for scattered light showers. Temperatures dramatically cool from Sunday through the first half of the week into the lower 80's leading to relief from the above average heat seen across Central Missouri
