Tracking incoming snowstorms this weekend

Today: Temperatures continue to warm up this afternoon thanks to mostly clear skies into the lower '50s.

Tonight: Winds switch back out of the northwest as cloud cover slides in late this evening allowing for temperatures to bottom out just below freezing.

Extended: Friday afternoon a low-pressure system moves in from the Dakotas bringing with it winter weather. Temperatures ride just above freezing Friday afternoon leading to scattered showers that slowly switch over into a wintery precipitation mix by Friday night. Moisture continues to pool in as the low-pressure system slides just west of Central Missouri leading to mostly snowfall by Saturday morning around 3 am. This snowfall continues into Saturday afternoon eventually pushing to the southeast. Northern parts of the viewing area near Moberly can expect 4-5 inches while Columbia and Jefferson city can see 3-4 inches. Down towards the Lake will expect to see 1-3 inches of snowfall by Saturday evening. Temperatures then slowly increase heading off into early next week.
