Sunday night storm summary

While we didn’t experience any tornadoes in mid-Missouri from this system, we still saw plenty of wind damage from straight line winds as the storms rolled through.

Last night’s round of storms tore through mid-Missouri hitting areas up north first and pushed toward areas along and just south of interstate 70. Almost the entire line of storms was severe warned as it approached the viewing area with straight line winds being the main threat.

In mid-Missouri as a whole, we saw 30 reports of wind damage and gusts throughout the evening. The bulk of these reports were located in Boone County as tree and structure damage came into play.

The highest wind gusts we saw in the viewing area were recorded in Boone County with 50 mph winds while other counties tracked winds near 35 mph as the system pushed through.

We also saw power outages and localized flooding before the storms cleared out of the area.

Clean up from this system is expected to last at least the next few days, but calmer conditions are forecasted through mid-week which should aid in the pick up effort.
