Tracking cooler temperatures for Thursday
THURSDAY: A cold front is working through the area this morning. It could have enough to generate a few spotty sprinkles but seems to be losing the battle to dry air. The better chance for some rain and a few thunderstorms will be along and south of the I-44 corridor around the early afternoon hours. The rest of us will be left with a mix of sun and clouds, a breeze out of the northwest, and highs in the low to mid 60’s.
TONIGHT: Those skies will clear up overnight, cooling temperatures into the low 40’s.
EXTENDED: After another chilly start, we bounce back in a great way Friday, with highs reaching near 70 with plenty of sunshine to start out. Clouds will return as our next system starts to influence us. Passing showers will be possible from Friday evening into Saturday afternoon. Temperatures will be a bit cooler with the cloud cover around Saturday, in the middle 60’s. Storms look to fire out west and move in Saturday night and Sunday morning. Some could be on the stronger side with some instability to work with. The showers linger into midday on Mother’s Day before we start to dry out. Depending on how far south we can push a stationary boundary leftover from the weekend, we could be looking at a dry start to next week. An active upper-level setup will at least keep the threat of rain around the area.
