Tracking significant impacts into Friday with wintry mix moving in

*A Weather Alert Day is in effect through Friday afternoon for the threat of dangerous road conditions and power outages due to ice accumulation*

TONIGHT: Cloudy with temperatures hovering below freezing. Precipitation moves in late, likely after midnight for most areas. Freezing rain continues overnight into Friday morning, causing slick roads and potential power outages.

TOMORROW: Freezing rain changes to rain east, with a dusting to half an inch of snow for areas north of Highway 50 through early evening. High near 34. Untreated roads will likely remain slippery through evening into Saturday morning.

EXTENDED: This powerful storm system tracks northeast on Friday, leaving us dry by Friday night. We'll start off Saturday in the mid-20s, only warming to just above freezing during the day. A weak disturbance will move across the area during the day, bringing another shot at a dusting to 1/2" of snow to the area. We begin to warm back up into the low 40s with more sunshine on Sunday, followed by a mild start to next week as temperatures get into the mid-upper 40s. Another chance of rain is possible by Wednesday, but high temperatures will get close to 50 degrees, so no wintry weather is expected.
