Tracking much cooler air and Friday morning storms
TONIGHT: Increasing clouds and mild early. Lows in the mid-40s by tomorrow morning. Storm chances increase after midnight with heavy rain at times.
TOMORROW: Showers and thunderstorms in the morning followed by a chilly northwest breeze. Highs in the mid-upper 40s.
EXTENDED: As the front clears out of Mid-Missouri, temperatures rapidly drop Friday night into Saturday morning into the mid-30s. The weekend starts off dry with patchy clouds on Saturday as highs reach the low 50s. Another front approaches by Sunday afternoon, bringing a chance at showers and potentially a thunderstorm. This front lingers with reinforcement from the upper levels of the atmosphere through Tuesday, giving us a continued chance for precipitation through at least Tuesday night. At the same time, a push of much colder air drops temperatures below freezing Monday night into Tuesday morning, giving us a window at seeing a wintry mix in that time frame. The best chance for any freezing rain or snow will likely stay north of I-70, and minimal impacts are expected as temperatures begin to warm back into the low to mid-40s on Tuesday. Rain clears out into Wednesday, and temperatures gradually warm back to near 50 by afternoon. Rain amounts over the next 7 days will range between 1-2", with the higher end amounts across southern Missouri.
