Tracking a gradual warm up, late week storms

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild. Lows in the low 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and a bit warmer. Highs in the mid-upper 80s.

EXTENDED: Heat and humidity really take hold by the end of the week with temperatures approaching 90 and dew points getting close to 70. This will allow the heat index to get into the mid-90s by Friday. However, a strong cold front will approach on Friday into Friday night, bringing a chance of showers and thunderstorms. The biggest impact on Friday looks to be across northern and northwest Missouri, with coverage of storms expanding south on Saturday. A few of these storms may have the potential of becoming severe Saturday into Saturday night, and potentially isolated strong to severe on Sunday evening near the front. Temperatures over the weekend will remain in the mid-upper 80s, with a bit of a cool down into the low to mid-80s early next week.
