Clouds tamper Friday heat, Warmth returns into the weekend

TODAY: Clouds have stuck around following the morning thunderstorms-- this has dramatically slowed the progression of warming temperatures this afternoon. These clouds will only allow temperatures to get into the mid to upper 80s later on this afternoon, letting heat index values remain below 100ยบ. It will still be warm and muggy, but not as warm as was forecast.

TONIGHT: Clouds will continue to clear out through the evening-- temperatures remain mild in the upper 60s.

EXTENDED: A weak upper level trough is set to swing through the region Saturday afternoon and that could spark a shower or storm through the afternoon but looks to remain very isolated. Expect to stay dry Saturday, but don't be surprised if you see a quick-moving t'storm. Sunday looks warm and muggy as temperatures creep back close to 90 degrees. Cooler weather looks to take hold by the middle of next week as we track the remnants of Tropical System Cristobal which could bring more heavy rain to mid-Missouri.
