Driver in high-speed chase turned shooting pronounced dead

AUDRAIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A driver involved in a high-speed chase that turned into a shootout in Audrain County was pronounced dead at an area hospital, according to a social media post from the Audrain County Sheriff's County.

Dominic K. Bosworth, 22, of Mexico, Missouri, was pronounced dead at University Hospital early Saturday morning, according to the post. The release states that Bosworth had an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after a chase with deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers. An autopsy will be conducted by the Audrain County Coroner and an investigation will be conducted by the MSHP Division of Drug and Crime Control, the post states

Deputies responded to the Casey's around 10:45 p.m. for reports of a problem with a girl, according to a release from the Audrain County Sheriff's Office.

A girl was found with a man unrelated to her, later identified as Bosworth. When law enforcement arrived at the Casey's, the man sped off at high speeds with the child in the vehicle, the post states.

When deputies attempted to stop the driver, he continued and a pursuit was initiated. During the chase, the driver stopped, let the girl out of the vehicle and continued driving.

Bosworth allegedly fired several shots at a trooper while the trooper was trying to drive in front of his vehicle, the post states. The trooper did not get hit, but the patrol car was damaged.

The chase continued into Mexico and ended at the intersection of Boulevard and Breckenridge, where multiple patrol cars hit Bosworth's vehicle, the release states.

When officers approached Bosworth, they found him with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in his head, the post states. Bosworth was taken to University Hospital and where he was later declared dead.

Two nine-millimeter pistols were found in the vehicle Bosworth was driving, the post states. Bosworth also had three felony warrants for burglary, stealing and felony driving while license is revoked.
