No injuries reported in eastern Boone County house fire

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone County Fire Protection District says three people were home but made it out safely when a broke out in 6700 block of East Southfield Drive in Boone County around 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

When ABC 17 News crews arrived on the scene, they saw crews working to control the smoke and flames coming from the home within the block.

Gale Blomenkamp with the Boone County Fire Protection District said on the scene, when fire crews arrived at the house the, backside of the home was fully involved with fire coming through the roof.

Fire Officials said they could see the smoke from the Lake of the Woods area as they were responding to the fire.

Blomenkamp says while attempting to get the flames put out with an interior attack, the roof collapsed and crews were pulled back to finish putting out the fire from the outside.

About 25 firefighters with the Boone County Fire and at least four firefighters from the Columbia Fire Department responded to the blaze, Blomenkamp said.

When ABC 17 news left the scene around 11:00 a.m. fire officials confirmed the flames were fully under control and they were working to finish the final cleanup.

Boone County Fire Protection District says the cause of the fire is still under investigation but confirmed the fire did start on the backside of the home based on what they saw.
