Woman hospitalized after incident at the University of Missouri power plant

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

According to the Columbia Fire Department, a woman has been hospitalized after an incident at a power plant on the University of Missouri's campus on Friday.

ABC 17 News Crews were on the scene around 2:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Elm St. Friday morning and saw multiple fire trucks.

A spokesperson for the University of Missouri said officials responded to the scene at around 1:50 a.m. for a report about a woman in the cooling tower of the power plant. The woman was then taken to the hospital after Columbia Fire got her out of the tower, according to Public Safety Information Specialist Sarah Dietrich.

ABC 17 News crews spoke to the Columbia Fire Department who gave us limited details and referred us to the school for more information.

The University of Missouri says the woman was not a student.
